Treatment of waste water with sewage sludge digestion produces sewage gas containing methane, which can be used in the sewage treatment plant for electricity and heat generation via co-generation power plants. The generated heat is used for sludge treatment and/or sludge drying, or to heat the company buildings. The electricity is used for the operation of the sewage treatment plant or is fed into the public power grid.
